If I had to pick a favourite makeup product, I would probably choose lipstick. Mascara is a close second but the perfect shade of lipstick is the holy grail of all things beauty in my opinion. Lipstick an elevate any outfit and it’s fun to try different colours and textures.
Mad about matte
I’m a huge fan of matte lipstick and I’ve been on a hunt for a really good one. Over the last few years I’ve tried a few but my all-time favourite is probably NARS. The formula is very light but the pigment is very intense. I also love how long this lipstick will last throughout the day. Even when I’m drinking or eating, The NARS Velvet Matte Lipstick will last.
Recently, I came across Smashbox, NYX, and Maybelline matte lipsticks. I thought I should write a post about my favourite ones.

I’m a Nyx fan
NARS is still my go-to lipstick but the NYX Matte Lip Cream is quickly becoming one of my favourites as well. I love that it applies as a cream but dries down to a matte finish. The colour options are also amazing. I have a plum shade but I’ve quickly branched out into nudes and reds as well. I think the only criticism I have is that I can find it a bit drying over time. But then again, what matte lipstick isn’t?
Maybe it’s Maybelline
For many of us Maybelline was one of the first drug store brands we used when we started wearing makeup. I remember borrowing my friend’s Baby Lips because it was so good. So, I was very excietd to try the Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick. But, I found that it didn’t give me the matte look I wanted. It was more of a lip cream, somewhere between a gloss and a matte. But, I really liked the colours. I love wearing shades in the berry family and Maybelline hit both ends of the spectrum for me. When I’m not into a deep, moody plum shade I’m wearing a bold, bright violet shade. It’s the best of both worlds.
Lastly, I really like the Smashbox Matte Lipstick. The colours are amazing and my lips felt super moisturized. I just loved the packaging. It’s so simple and classic. It makes me feel like a stylish Parisian woman.

Agreed. Not if you’re looking for a matte lipstick anyway. Nyx was way better in my opinion.
