How I clean my makeup brushes

A necessary evil.

Cleaning my makeup brushes is probably my least favourite activity when it comes to wearing makeup. Well, that and taking it off at the end of the night. But I have a couple tricks for the latter. The whole cleaning process can’t really be skipped but there are a few special tools and products that have made my life infinitely easier.

At first I only used the Quo Purifying Brush Shampoo I purchased from Shoppers Drug Mart ages ago. Then I realized I was spending way too long soaking, massaging, and rinsing my brushes to get them clean. On top of that, I couldn’t get my beauty blenders as clean as I wanted without ruining them first. Enter the silicone mitt!

The beautyblender keep.it.clean cleansing kit ($28 at sephora.ca) was a definite game changer for me. It’s so easy to use and comes with both a solid and liquid cleanser. I love using this for my beauty blender especially and cleaning it after is simple. I just wipe it down and leave to dry along with my brushes/blenders. I don’t know if I’d necessarily travel with it but it is also made to travel.

The Fingertip Makeup Brush Cleaner from The Body Shop ($6 at thebodyshop.ca) is another great tool. It’s definitely made for brushes, as the small ridges would probably ruin my beauty blenders. I love that it’s so small. You’re able to better control the pressure and get right into the center of the bristles.

What are your fav products/tools to use when you clean your brushes/blenders? Tell me in the comments!
