My favourite makeup removers

Le sigh.

As much as I love makeup I’m not a fan of taking it off. Especially on those late nights when all I want to do is crawl into bed and sleep. We’re all guilty of removing makeup with a quick cleansing wipe and avoiding the actual face-washing portion of our nightly routine. I do it more often than I’d like to admit. But recently I’ve found a few products that make the dreaded makeup removal part of my night simple, quick, and effective.

I usually start with The Body Shop’s Camomile Cleansing Butter. It’s literally my favourite product when it comes to makeup removers. It feels like a dream to put on and takes off even the most stubborn eye makeup. I love the texture. it’s creamy, smooth and leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturized rather than dry and sensitive, which happens with traditional makeup removing products containing alcohol. Sometimes I’ll use the muslin cloth to wipe my face with or cotton pads. I also like using the cleansing butter right before I use my regular face wash.

Caudalie is a new beauty brand for me but I love this little bottle of cleansing oil. It’s perfect to travel with and is perfect for removing specific areas of stubborn makeup like the eyes and cheeks (because highlighter). I would definitely recommend using with cotton pads.

Another great tool for me, especially when travelling, is the Makeup Eraser. I have the original in pink but I also love using the mini. Oh, and it just needs a bit of cold water! It’s perfect for those minimal makeup days when I’m just wearing a bit of highlighter and powder.

Micellar water isn’t new but it is definitely new to me. I love using BioDerma’s Sébium H2O Purifying Micelle Solution (beautyboutique.ca) as a post face wash, pre toner product. It’s great because it’s so gentle and gets rid of the last traces of mascara on my lashes.
