I spent my night testing Influenster’s ‘Let it Glow’ VoxBox

My night started with a bottle of charcoal-infused micellar water and ended with a life-changing cooling gel and a couple coats of mascara.

I discovered Influenster through a couple friends and fellow beauty bloggers. I saw their posts talking about the new products they were trying and found an entire platform dedicated to sharing reviews of their favourite products, most especially makeup and skincare. It sounded great. Within a few short minutes I had built out my profile and started reviewing things.

Earlier this month, I was told I would receive a legendary VoxBox in the mail. I was so excited to receive it in the mail yesterday and spent the entire night trying out products from the Let It Glow VoxBox. Here’s my review.

I was really excited to use Biore products because I had a full face of makeup on and one of the products was a bottle of micellar water. I was also very interested in trying a new face mask. I really can’t say no to a good face mask and the self-heating element of this one intrigued me.IMG_3186

Biore Charcoal Cleansing Micellar Water

I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of makeup this micellar water took off. I only used three cotton pads to get the majority of my makeup off. It even got rid of my stubborn mascara, which usually takes a couple second of vigorous rubbing with a cleansing oil to completely off. The micellar water was a easy, gentle alternative.

I also really liked how my skin felt after. I was worried it would be dry but my skin felt fresh, soft, and hydrated. I would definitely purchase this in the future.

Biore Charcoal Self-Heating Mask

This mask set comes with four individual mask packages, which I really liked. Instead of coming in a regular container that forces you to apply with your fingers or dip in with a facial brush (if you have one), each mask comes in a perfect portion of product. I used my spatula-looking facial brush to apply the mask onto my face and then massaged it in. I started to feel a slight warmth right away from these small circular motions. Once the heat was activated, I sat back and let the mask do its thing.

Fresh, clean skin

After about fifteen minutes, I decided to wipe it off. The mask doesn’t dry, which I liked. It came off easily and didn’t dry on any of the baby hairs around my hairline. My skin felt really smooth and immediately brighter, especially around my cheeks and nose. I did notice that my skin felt a bit dry after so I definitely had to add some hydrating products to compensate. I used Vichy Mineral 89 and followed up with my usual combinations of serums and facial oils. I would use again but maybe not during the winter. This would definitely be a summer lifesaver when my skin is more oily, sweaty, and clogged.

Clarins Hydra-Essentiel

I will admit I’m a bit of a Clarins’ fan already. I tried the SOS Hydra Refreshing Hydration Mask earlier this year and fell in love. The Hydra-Essentiel Cooling Gel was no different. Especially after using the self-heating mask, using the cooling gel was a nice way to refresh and hydrate my skin.

Thanks to the organic Kalanchoe or the Leaf of Life extract in the cooling gel, which helps activate the skin’s ability to product hyaluronic acid, the skin is able to retain more water or hydration.

I’m feeling blue

I really liked the blue colour of this product. It was such a soothing, light blue and the texture was great to—super light and non-greasy. The cooling gel applied like a dream to my skin and felt so amazing. It absorbed right into my skin and left the most subtle dewy, hydrated glow to my skin. I will definitely be purchasing the full-sized product.

Revlon’s Volumazing Mascara

It’s hard for me to review any mascara now that I’ve tried Glossier’s Lash Slick, but I actually liked Revlon’s Volumazing Mascara as well. The brush had just the right amount of product on it and I didn’t feel like I had to wipe off excess product from my eyes when I applied it. I also liked that it didn’t feel heavy or clumpy and my lashes looked really full.

My favourite product from this box was Clarins Hydra Essentiel Cooling Gel. I can totally see myself using it first thing in the morning or right before bed to give my skin the extra boost of hydration that it needs. I also really liked Biore’s Charcoal Cleansing Micellar Water and will use it regularly in the future.

Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask, $10, biore.ca, Bioré Charcoal Cleansing Micellar Water, 300 ml, $10, biore.ca, Revlon Volumazing Mascara, $12, revlon.ca, Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Cooling Gel, 50 ml, $47, clarins.ca.

Note: I received these complimentary products from Influenster for testing purposes.
