The 4 beauty products I needed this spring

Spring is in and these are the beauty products I can’t stop using.

With warmer weather on the horizon—finally—it’s time to prep my skin for the season of flowers, sun and allergies. Early spring is my least favourite time of the year because I spend most of it sneezing. In the mornings, I can wake up really puffy as well so I’m happy that I finally have a jade roller to keep my skin in check.

I’ve also added a few new products to my skincare artillery and I can’t wait to tell you about them. I found a new mask and a face cream that I can’t stop using. I also returned to an old body scrub and fell back in love with it. Oh, and I tested out one of the new bath bombs from LUSH’s anniversary collection. What I really like about these products is that they’re green. Earth Day was earlier this month and I wanted to share a few of the products I’m obsessed with that are made with ingredients that are natural and sustainable.

Lights, camera, masking!

Face masks are my solution to any and every skincare problem. It’s such a classic lazy beauty hack but, it’s one that works. Dr Roebuck’s Daintree AHA Brightening Mask is a new addition to my collection and it also happens to be vegan. It’s infused with natural ingredients like Caviar Lime and Kakadu Plum to help exfoliate and brighten the skin. It’s also made with kaolin clay, which is a soft clay that’s used a lot in skincare. Herbivore Botanicals uses it in their clay soaps and it’s even in Glow Recipe’s Avocado Mask.

I love using it at night because it takes all the built up oils and makeup residue out of my skin. It’s a creamy texture but has tiny enzymes that help exfoliate the skin. It feels great to apply and I love went it dries down like a traditional clay mask. My skin is noticeably brighter after and very soft too!

Body care

I feel like I spend a lot of time blogging about products I put on my face and forget to mention my favourite body care products—there’s a blog post idea. Next to Cake Beauty, The Body Shop occupies one of my top five body care brands. I’ve been using their body butter since I was in middle school and I have no intention of stopping now.

I love their body scrubs and recently found a jar of their French Grape Seed Body Scrub in my bathroom. The Body Shop combined grape seed powder from France and sugar from Paraguay to create the ultimate exfoliating body scrub. After soaking in the tub for twenty or so minutes, I used the body scrub on my entire body and couldn’t believe how smooth my skin was after. Not only does this scrub some amazing, but it helps slough away dead skin and reveals smoother, softer skin in just a few minutes. I will definitely be using this scrub before the week is out.

In late March, LUSH dropped a new collection of bath bombs to celebrate the 30th birthday of the bath bomb. On March 29, 1989, the first bath bomb was created and LUSH released 54 exclusive bath bombs to in celebration. They ranged from simple bath bombs like Lavender Giant Bombshell to creative, cartoonish designs like Royalty, Kappa, Geode. I snagged a few but one of my favourites so far has been the Peach Bath Bomb. This emoij-turned-bath-bomb smells amazing and has a colourful, frothy texture when its submerged in water. It felt so decadent and I’ll be trying hoarding a few before they leave the stores.

Clean, green coconut oil

I’ve had a recent obsession with coconut oil and I think it’s because of Kopari. I started using their products earlier this year and now I’m officially hooked. The Face Cream is absolutely lovely and like all of Kopari’s products it’s non-GMO, cruelty-free, and formulated without silicone, gluten, and synthetic fragrances.

The face mask is great as as a moisturizer and I loved using it on my oily/combination skin. It didn’t feel too heavy or greasy, which is what a lot of people complain about when they using coconut oil or coconut oil-based products. But, Kopari’s Face Cream is also pumped with sunflower oil, aloe to help hydrate the skin and the formula adapts to your skin based on what your skin needs and what the climate is. I loved using this as a transitional skincare product because it’s lightweight enough to wear on warmer days but also gives me the hydration I need when it’s cold and dry outside.  I can see myself using this throughout the spring and well into the summer.
