The five skincare products I’m using this month

May my skin be glowy and flawless.

I can’t believe we’re only a month away from summer. Spring has been unpredictable, cold and generally confusing. My skin has been in transition mostly. It’s still a bit dry so I’ve been topping up with products that are a bit more moisturizing. It seems like warmer weather is on its way and I’m excited to start embracing my summer glow already. I’ve been working on exfoliating and hydrating my face more than anything else and I have a little group of products that have been helping me along the way.

A green beauty mask

I cannot get enough of the packaging. Tata Harper’s entire collection is on my wishlist because I love the green and gold glass jar aesthetic so much. And, after using the Resurfacing Mask, I fell in love with the product as well.

I love exfoliants and this product is like a double exfoliant but only uses natural ingredients. The BHA is a chemical exfoliant to gently remove dead skin cells while the Pomegranate enzymes physically scrub and smooth skin.  I used the Regenerating Cleanser before and then applied the mask afterward. I love the smell and the jelly-like texture feels lovely on the skin. I noticed an immediate glow after I used this mask.

A refreshing can of water

If I had to list my top skin concerns, dehydration is always at the top of the list. My skin is always dying for a boost of moisture and this water spray is one of my favourite ways to give my skin what it needs. It’s so refreshing. I just give my skin a quick spritz in the morning before I apply my skincare and makeup products and at night. If I’m home all day I’ll leave a can by my computer and reapply throughout the day.  It’s addictive and now that it’s getting warm outside, it’s a perfect misting product.

The best in town

Coconut oil isn’t a new thing and it’s not new to my skincare shelf either. About five years ago, when it was becoming the most popular all-purpose health and beauty product on the market, I was using it almost every day as body lotion, hair oil, makeup remover and cooking oil. My obsession with coconut oil has waned over the years, especially since I discovered the magical ingredient that is squalane—thanks Biossance!

I included the Raw Coconut Cream in my green beauty round-up for Earth Day another favourite because it’s one of the most organic coconut based products on the market and I had just started using it. And now I can say it’s one of my favourite on-the-go products. It’s so moisturizing without being overly greasy or heavy on the skin, which is always one of the biggest concerns with coconut oil. But, I only need a little bit to get the results I want so I’m very happy with it.

Soak it up with Summer Fridays

I was dying to try this face mask when I first heard about it a couple years ago. I loved the idea of being able to apply the face mask and just let it absorb into my skin with minimal aftercare—rinsing, drying, moisturizing. I also loved that it was meant to be used while you’re on-the-go.

I slipped this mask into my bag and used it on the subway during my long commutes to school. It would absorb in minutes and I could just sit back and relax. And, now that I work from home, I find I’ve been using it more. I can pop up on this mask when I sit down to work and by the time I stop for a break, the mask is completely absorbed and my skin feels amazing. That’s what I call multitasking.

A new, Niu makeup remover

I haven’t been wearing a lot of makeup lately. But, when I do it feels like an extra chore to remove it every night. I’m a huge fan of cleansing oils because they’re like a 2-in-1 product. I can remove the majority of my makeup with a few swipes and then apply water and give my skin a much-needed cleanse. This makeup remover from Canadian beauty brand Niu Body is quickly becoming a favourite. Lavender is one it it’s main ingredients and it smells absolutely incredible. The product is also completely natural and non-greasy. My skin feels so soft afterward and I can’t help but want to run my hands across my face for the rest of the night.

    1. Thanks for your comment. I have used the spring water over makeup. It doesn’t set my makeup or anything but it does refresh my skin and I really like that.
