The Body Shop’s new line is lemon fresh

I’m lemonading.

Summer is in full swing, and I thought it was the perfect time to switch up my beauty routine. I barely wear makeup these days, my skincare routine is simple (and effective), and I haven’t touched perfume in months. My bath routine, however, was getting a little boring. I have a lot of bath products with scents like coconut, shea, or vanilla, because they tend to be the most hydrating, which is an absolute necessity for my skin. L’Occitane, Cake Beauty, and Herbivore Botanicals are a few of my favourite body care brands for this reason.

But, I also have to admit that I love a sweet, fruity scents, too. I have a small obsession with The Body Shop’s strawberry line. It was my signature scent when I was in high school, and it makes me feel a little nostalgic whenever I use the shower gel or body butter. The new Zesty Lemon line was a great way to add a little variety to my bath products. The collection is small, but covers your body care basics. There’s a shower gel, body scrub, and body yogurt, and I’ve been using them for about a month now. This is what I thought:

The Body Yogurt

The entire collection smells amazing. If you love lemon, you won’t be disappointed by the scent. It has a sweetness to it, but it’s balanced by the strong citrus fragrance. And the scent is consistent across all three products.

I enjoyed body yogurt, which surprised me. I like using body butters, because I find them more moisturizing. But, I found that it’s still very hydrating. The lightweight texture is perfect for summer, especially on those super hot days when you don’t feel like putting on a thick layer of cream. I use it as soon as I get out of the shower. The body yogurt feels cool against my skin and helps lock in moisture, so my skin doesn’t feel dry or tight throughout the day. I even put it in the fridge before I use it for an extra cooling sensation. Heaven.

The Body Wash

I’ve tried quite a few shower gels from The Body Shop, and I think the lemon shower gel is on par with the other scents. It’s light, lathers really well, and it leaves behind this great lemon fragrance. I’ve been showering in the morning a lot more in the last month. Using the shower gel gives me such a great energy boost, and since I don’t drink coffee, it’s become my favourite way to start the day. Out of the three products, I’d say that this one was my favourite.

The Body Scrub

To be honest, I didn’t think I’d like the body scrub. When I opened the container and saw that it had a light gel texture, I was prepared to hate it. I’m a huge fan of Cake Beauty’s body scrub, which uses very large sugar cubes to exfoliate the skin. The Body’s Shops lemon body scrub, in comparison, didn’t feel as effective. It’s definitely light enough to use every day, and I did, so I could layer the lemon scent. But, if I had to pick between the two, I would stick with Cake Beauty.

Conclusion: Restock the shower gel ASAP

I really enjoyed the shower gel (and the body yogurt, too). And since it’s a limited edition collection, it’ll probably be gone by late fall. I’ll have to stock up, so I have enough to use next summer.

What are your favourite products from The Body Shop? Have you tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments!

  1. This scent would be good for the winter! Citrus is energizing like you said and I think we need more of that burst in the cold seasons. I may pick up the body yogurt. It was disappointing to read the scrub was underwhelming.

  2. Sad to hear they aren’t making the lemon body yogurt. I loved the fresh smell! Please think of bringing this product back!
