All the things I’m loving this August

Straight outta quarantine.

I can’t believe it’s August. This summer is flying by, and I’m trying to soak up every last minute of it. Like most people, I’ve been doing a lot of online shopping lately. I think I’ve seen the mail person more than my best friend over the last few months. These are a few things I’m loving this month. I’ve bought a lot of home decor items and beauty items to try to make living at home as comfortable and entertaining as possible. These are a few of my products I’m loving lately:

Foreo Luna Play Plus

I’ll admit that I haven’t been washing my face nearly as often as I should. Wearing makeup gave me a really good reason to do it every, but now that I’m home all day, I’ve gotten really lazy. I bought the Foreo Luna hoping it would motivate me to wash my face, and it did. Not only does it feel good against my skin, but it’s actually really fun, too. It’s like an electronic silicone brush for your face. It vibrates as it cleanses your face, so it feels like a mini massage. I just pour a bit of my Milky Jelly Cleanser from Glossier on it and then lightly scrub my face. I love the round shape and the bristles at the top. I can easily clean my whole face, including the nooks and crannies around my nose. It’s so gentle, and my skin just feels so fresh afterward.

The only jewellery I’ve been wearing lately are my huggie hoops. On a rare occasion I actually leave my house, I may put on a pair of hoops. But it’s a little harder to get my face mask on, so I’ve been experimenting with the stacked earring trend. I only have two piercing on each ear, so these Sila Ear Cuffs were a great way to add a little more bling to my ear, without the permanency of an actual piercing. They’re so lightweight, I can barely feel them. They look great with my other gold earrings, and I’m tempted to get another pair for my other ear.

Quo Beauty Nail Polish

Who else is missing their professional gel manis? Me too. I’ve been painting my nails a lot lately, because quarantine, and I honestly hate waiting for my nails to dry. I recently stumbled upon a new line of polish I’m kind of obsessed with. The Quo Beauty Flash Dry Nail Colour comes in so many cool colours and the polish dries down in about a minute. I can finish my nails in about 30 minutes, which is way less time than it usually takes me.

Knix Leakproof Underwear

Knix has been on my list of brands to try for a while now, and I finally decided to purchase a few things during their online warehouse sale a couple months ago. I tried out a pair of leakproof underwear and loved them so much that I bought a few more pairs. I got the nude high rise style, because I’m actually a grandma and I cannot stand bikini or low rise undies. Also, I don’t really like brightly-coloured or patterned underwear, so the nude colour was perfect for me. I was so happy that they had such a great range of nude shades (I’m Nude 5, for reference).

One my favourite things about these underwear is the material they’re made with. They’re made with a blend of nylon and spandex, making them super stretchy and  comfortable. They’re also very absorbent. I can get away with wearing them alone on the first two days of my period without worrying about leaking. I’ve been wearing them for a few weeks now, and I can say that they don’t get saggy or stretched out. I usually throw them in the wash and then place them on my drying rack. I love that I’m not generating as much waste as I normally would with pads. They’re definitely a bit of an investment, but I know these undies will end up saving me more money in the long run.
