My winter in outfits

At home, but make it fashion.

My fashion game is looking a little different this year. Like everyone else, I’ve spent the majority of the winter season inside. It’s kind of a dream come true, if I’m being honest. I basically spent the last couple of months in hibernation. And while I’m happy that I didn’t have to brave the harsh Canadian weather every day, I have to remind myself this only happened because of a pandemic. Being home all the time has affected the way I dress. Long gone are the days of button up shirt, work pants, and the occasional pleated skirt. I’ve invested in a new collection of leggings, joggers, sweatshirts, and hoodies. The only days I dress up are the days I know I’ll be on a Zoom call or on the occasional outing to the grocery store.

Here are a few outfits I wore this winter.

My favourite overalls

On the days when I don’t feel like creating a whole outfit, these overalls come in handy. I just pop them on , grab a cozy sweater, and I magically have an entire outfit. I spent most of the winter wearing my ribbed turtleneck sweaters and then adding a little gold jewellery to finish off the look.

A jumpsuit

This ‘jumpsuit’ is technically a top and pair of matching wide-legged pants. But I wear the top tucked in, so you can barely tell that they’re separate pieces. I think the ribbed pattern and the slightly shiny finish make my outfit look a little fancier, but it’s super comfy.

New year, new dress

I actually dressed up for New Years, and I have no regrets. This red dress was an impulse buy, but it’s become a staple in my closet. Once we’re out of quarantine, I’ll be wearing it a lot more.

Home office chic

Despite working from home, I still like to dress up for my weekly meetings. I love that puffed sleeves are trending right now. They make any blouse look a little more dramatic with very little effort.

Cropped sweatshirts > everything

My love for crop tops knows no bounds and it’s starting to show in my collection of loungewear. I’ve also been trying to support more local businesses, so this purchase from The Good Girls Club combines my love of cropped sweatshirts and Canadian brands.

My little red dress

Apparently red is my new favourite colour. This was the dress I wore on Valentine’s Day, for obvious reasons — the bold red shade, the beautiful mesh fabric, and the romantic frill accents. It was definitely too cold out to wear this dress, so I’m excited to wear it this spring.

White jeans

I rarely wear jeans nowadays, but these white jeans from H&M looked too good to pass up. And I was right. They’re not too short, which is a problem I run into often (I’m almost six feet tall). I don’t know why I stopped wearing white jeans, but that’s about to change.

Which outfit is your favourite? Tell me in the comments.
