A necessary evil.

Cleaning my makeup brushes is probably my least favourite activity when it comes to wearing makeup. Well, that and taking it off at the end of the night. But I have a couple tricks for the latter. The whole cleaning process can’t really be skipped but there are a few special tools and products that have made my life infinitely easier.

A travel-friendly kit that makes it easy to clean your beautyblender or brushes.

At first I only used the Quo Purifying Brush Shampoo I purchased from Shoppers Drug Mart ages ago. Then I realized I was spending way to long soaking, massaging, and rinsing my brushes to get them clean. On top of that, I couldn’t get my beauty blenders as clean as I wanted without ruining them first. Enter the silicone mitt!

The beautyblender cleansing kit ($28 at was a definite game changer for me. It’s so easy to use and comes with both a solid and liquid cleanser. I love using this for my beauty blender especially and cleaning it after is simple. I just wipe it down and leave to dry along with my brushes/blenders. I don’t know if I’d necessarily travel with it but it is also made to travel.

The Fingertip Makeup Brush Cleaner from The Body Shop ($6 at is another great tool. It’s definitely made for brushes, as the small ridges would probably ruin my beauty blenders. I love that it’s so small. You’re able to better control the pressure and get right into the center of the bristles.

What are your fav products/tools to use when you clean your brushes/blenders? Tell me in the comments!

A wardrobe staple.

A denim jacket is an absolute necessity when it comes to transitioning between summer and fall weather. It’s ridiculously comfortable and goes with literally anything in your closet.

I found this treasure at Addition Elle and immediately fell in love. Being a tall girl, I loved the longer, oversized look of this jacket. It was perfect for all of my mini-ish dresses and skirts that I love to wear when it’s still warm outside but need an extra layer over in the evenings when it cools down. Enter the t-shirt dress. I’ve been living in them all summer and I will probably continue to wear them into the early winter. I actually love this on from ASOS because it’s a thicker cotton material, making it perfect for the cooler fall weather. Add a pair of my favourite sunglasses and sporty-looking running shoes and I’m good to go!
