Review: I’m actually obsessed with OPI’s press on nails

They’ve been my go-to for a quick and long-lasting mani.

If you’re anything like me, you have a love-hate relationship with gel manicure. Yes, they look amazing and can last weeks longer than a regular manicure, but after a while your nails start to show signs of damage. A couple years ago, I finally decided that gel manis would be for special occasions and I’d just deal with having bare nails. And while I considered using press on nails, I couldn’t find a brand that actually worked for me. I have long and wide nail beds, so my options were pretty limited. Until now!

Enter OPI and their new(ish) press on collection.

Tips and tricks

Honestly it was love after the first set. They lasted three weeks and I actually had a hard time soaking them off when I was ready to change the set. And there was no damage to my natural nail. Yes, I had to really buff out the excess glue left on my nail, but all I had to use was a wooden cuticle stick to pop the nail off. Plus, I recently discovered that KISS makes a glue remover, and it’s been a major game changer for me.

I think one of the things I loved most about these press ons is how thick they are. I know one of the drawbacks to press on nails is that they constantly fall off or feel very flimsy, but I found that if I spent the extra time to prep my nails by buffing and dehydrating the nail, I got the best application and only had to reapply one or two nails over a three week period. They’re still easy to cut and file if I want to change the shape, which I often do because I prefer a round nail than an almond or stiletto shape.

The other thing I liked is that they come in a variety of fun colours and finishes. From plain white and chrome to super-cute nail art, too, there’s something for every mood I’m in. OPI even came out with a Hello Kitty and Wicked collection in the last year and they were so good. I would definitely love some more options, as they haven’t expanded their regular collection since it’s launch, but a girl can hope!
