The seven things on my 2022 Christmas wish list

The seven things on my 2022 Christmas wish list

Making my list.

It’s the most wonderful time of year and I have to confess I struggled to come up with things to put on my wish list this year. And it’s not because there’s a shortage of cool, chic, and covetable items on the internet. It’s mostly because I’ve been treating myself like Donna Meagle since the beginning of the holiday season back in November. I’m embarrassed to say my shopaholic tendencies have left very few things on my wish list for others to buy for me. And yet, I still have a few things that I would love to see under the tree on Christmas morning. Check out the seven things I’m coveting this year.

New luggage but make it pink

I don’t know about you but I have been dying to travel. After over two years of being stuck at home, I’m more than ready to jet set and it would be nice to upgrade my old suitcases to mark the occasion of my next adventure. I’ve been obsessed with Shay Mitchell’s luggage brand Béis for years now and she finally came out with millennial pink collection name after her daughter Atlas. I already have the Weekender bag but I’ve been eyeing the suitcases ever since.

All mushroom everything

Is it just me or have you been seeing a lot of mushroom decor? I think I’ve always had a small obsession with mushrooms (you should see my Animal Crossing island), but I don’t think I’m alone in my fascination. Pinterest recently dropped their predictions for 2023 and mushroomcore is definitely thing. I already have a few mushroom-shaped accents in my room and jewellery collection, but I’d love to incorporate a few more pieces into my space. First on my list is this adorable ceramic jar from Homebody Collective (a Toronto-based Etsy shop).

A curved bag

My favourite part about getting dressed is the accessories and I’ve been wanting to add a curved shoulder bag to my collection for a while now. JW Pei has become one of my go-to handbag brands this year because they make the coolest purses. I love how they play with different shapes and have such a great colour range. I bought this adorable bucket bag earlier this year and I wear it at every opportunity. I love a top handle bag and this puffy curved shoulder bag is at the top of my list.

A Barbiecore coat

My collection of coats has grown over the last few months and Hilary MacMillan is partly to blame. The Canadian designer is one of my favourite places to shop for outerwear because she offers a variety styles. It’s not all bulky black parkas. Instead think leather trench coats, printed puffers, and faux fur dusters that you’ll want to live in for duration of the winter. Her latest Barbie-inspired collection featured a hot pink faux fur coat that I honestly can’t stop thinking about. I have quite a few faux fur coats already, but this one is pink— Barbie pink. It’s in a separate category as far as I’m concerned.

Shining, smiling jewellery

One thing I realized is that I don’t have a lot of bracelets in my collection. I recently got a couple of welded bracelets from Melanie Auld but that’s about it. I made it a mission to add to my collection of bracelets this year and Lisa Gozlan’s happy face bracelet is at the top of my list. It’s one of those items that I keep seeing on other people and just really want for myself. I have a lot of simple, minimalist pieces, but this has more of an early aughts vibe with the smiley face and embellishments.

A giant floral candle

One thing about me: I’m going to buy the candle. In fact, I’ll probably buy three. Lately my taste in candles has grown to include a few luxe brands like Diptyque. I went to their new brick-and-mortar store when it opened in Toronto in the fall and I’ve never been the same. There are so many scents to choose from but I’m floral girl at heart, so I naturally gravitated toward the Roses candle. It’s one of their bestsellers. In fact, it’s so popular they made a three-wick candle that looks like piece of art in its beautiful pink ceramic jar. I’ll take two, please.

All the luxe lip products

If I had to pick one thing to bring to a desert island, it’s going to be lip gloss. It’s not practical, but it’s the truth. Knowing that, I will never turn down a lip product as a gift. Ever. I don’t care that I have a drawer full of them. I will always want more. And Fenty’s new lip mask is no exception. And even though it’s technically a mask, I know it’ll leave my lips looking juicy. I tried the lip oil earlier this year and loved it, so chances are I’m going to be obsessed with the lip mask as well. I don’t think Rihanna has a launched a lip product I haven’t loved immediately.

My favourite cooling products I use all summer long

My favourite cooling products I use all summer long

Too cool for school.

I have such a love-hate relationship with summer. While I love the flowers, fashion, and freedom that comes with the sultry season, I’m not a fan of the heat and humidity on those extra-hot days. That’s why I a huge fan of using cooling products during the summer months. They give me an almost immediate relief from the high temps and my skin looks so good, I can skip a few steps in my makeup routine. Here’s what I’ve been using lately.

Icy-Cold Cleanser

A splash of cold water will help cool me down, but this Boscia cleanser is next level. It has a thin gel texture and immediately cools the skin when I apply it with water. If I were to make a comparison, it’s a similar sensation to chewing a piece of gum or popping a breath mint in your mouth.

Gel Eye Patches

I love an eye mask and these cooling skyn ICELAND eye patches are probably my favourite. They not only help cool but also depuff the under eye area, making them perfect for first thing in the morning. Also, I found that they don’t move around as much as other eye masks I’ve tried, so I don’t have to constantly readjust them while they’re working their magic. I would normally follow up with a sheet mask and use a jade roller over to give myself a little facial massage.

Face and body moisturizers

While it’s technically not a cooling product, I just really love this Boscia moisturizer because the texture is amazing. It has a bouncy mousse cream that feels amazing when I apply it. Plus it’s packed with antioxidants that help protect my skin barrier during the day. I usually keep it in my mini fridge with this body yogurt from The Body Shop so they feel even cooler when I use them.

Here’s the reel of the products in action:
