I did a Quo Beauty haul and here’s what I thought

I’ve been sleeping on Quo Beauty.

I don’t know about you, but I spend a lot of time at Shoppers Drug Mart these days. The months-long lockdown in Toronto limited in-store shopping options, so the only times that I left the house were to go to the grocery stores and Shoppers. Luckily, there’s always something new to try out in the beauty section and I was able to find a few products that kept my skin and my sanity in a good place. I’ve been wanting to do a review of my favourite drugstore products for a while now and thought it would be great to start with Quo Beauty.

Last fall they launched a whole makeup collection and even added a few skincare products, too. Naturally, I had to test them, because I love a good dupe. I’ve tried quite a few products, but these are the ones I really wanted to talk about.

This balm is bananas (B-A-N-A-N-A-S)!

I’m not going to lie, I was a little hesitant to try this one out. I like bananas in my smoothie, not my skincare. But, I have to say the banana scent is really light and I actually enjoy using it on my face to remove makeup. Cleansing balms are my favourite way to remove a full face of makeup, and I found that the Quo Banana Cleansing Balm lathers really well when you add a little water. My skin feels so soft afterward and there’s no lingering scent of bananas, which is a relief. I’d definitely repurchase this one.

The cutest makeup-removing cloths

While I enjoy putting on makeup at the beginning of the day, I absolutely hate taking it off at night. Using these Quo Makeup Remover Cloths have made it infinitely easier to get all the product off of my face. I just soak them in water and get to business. I love the little pink one. It fits like a little mitt on my fingers and gives me enough control to wipe off my eye makeup without tugging or rubbing my skin. And unlike cotton pads, I can throw these in the wash whenever they get dirty. I’ve had these for months and they’re still in really good shape.

A face mist

Not everyone uses a face mist in the skincare routine, but I love how hydrating and calming it can be. I keep a bottle near my desk, so I can treat myself to a little spritz throughout the day. I use them a lot during the winter when my skin tends to be drier, but I’ve started using them more regularly during the warmer seasons, too. This Quo Brightening Facial Mist has a dose of vitamin C in it and I have to say I’m a fan. I don’t use vitamin C products during the day, because they can be quite intense and can make my skin more sensitive to the sun. I find this is a way more gentle way to introduce vitamin C to my skin, but of course I still use sunscreen. I will probably finish this bottle by the end of the summer with the way I’ve been using it.

Mini eyeshadow palettes

I don’t wear a lot of eye makeup and when I do I tend to keep it simple, which is why I usually grab palettes that are filled with brown and gold shades. The Wake Me Up Palettes and Singles were perfect for me. There’s a mix of matte and shimmery shades and they’re pretty small, so I might actually get through all that product before it expires. I use the larger brown singles as a base and I really liked the Good Morning palette with that warm terracotta and shimmery golden shades. I also appreciated that the palettes are all magnetic, making it almost impossible for me to loose them in my beauty drawers.

Hydration station

If you don’t know what hyaluronic acid is, you’re definitely missing out. I’ve talked about my love for hydrating beauty products and most of them have this hero ingredient. Hyaluronic acid helps your skin retain moisture and is most commonly used in moisturizers and serums, because it can hold up to one thousand times its weight in water. I use a little dollop of the Quo Hydrating Facial Serum and let it sink into my skin before I apply my face cream . It’s part of my morning skincare routine, especially on the days I decide to wear makeup. I’ve noticed my foundation just sits better when I really focus on prepping my skin beforehand with my serum and moisturizer. So much so that I don’t even need to use a primer.

Lip and cheek stains

The most used products in my makeup collection are probably my lip balms and blushes. Even when I’m not wearing a full face of makeup, I still like to add a little colour to my lips and cheeks. I love the colour of the Sheer Lip Paint and Dewy Cheek Tint and it only take a little bit of product to get the perfect amount of pigment on my face. I’ve been choosing cream and liquid products over powder lately because I find them so lightweight and buildable. I like how natural they look on my skin and dewy finish they leave behind. I would still say Cloud Paint by Glossier is my fave (because it’s much more pigmented), but this is a great alternative.

Quo Beauty Nail Polish

This is an oldie, but a goodie. I’ve been painting my nails a lot lately, because quarantine, and I honestly hate waiting for my nails to dry. I recently stumbled upon a new line of polish I’m kind of obsessed with. The Quo Beauty Flash Dry Nail Colour comes in so many cool colours and the polish dries down in about a minute. I can finish my nails in about 30 minutes, which is way less time than it usually takes me.
