It’s about damn time .
I know, it’s been a while. But after a two-year pandemic and dealing with a bit of burnout, I’m ready to start blogging on the regular again.
It’s finally summer again, and I can actually enjoy it this year. The last couple summers in the city have been a little boring, but Toronto is finally getting its personality back and I’m taking advantage of it. The last few weeks alone have been filled with, concerts, food festivals, flower markets, and some pretty fun fashion and beauty events, too. In fact, let me drop a few Instagram posts to show you what I’ve been up to lately. This is all to say that I’m back and the lifestyle content is coming.
Taco Fest
This food festival has become a tradition for my family and it was so nice to start the summer season with a weekend of tacos, tequila, and sunshine. It happens every year at Ontario Place and it’s always a blast. It was a little overwhelming to be in such a big crowd (y’know after being inside of the last two years), but we found a nice spot by the water to hang out and it ended up being a fun afternoon.
Summer shopping spree
There’s no better feeling than a successful shopping haul and I’ve been having really great luck this summer. A few of my favourite brands have been killing it in the fashion department and Old Navy is just one of them. Old Navy is simultaneously one of the most underrated clothing brands ever, but also extremely popular because things are almost always partially or completely out of stock. Like this red dress, for instance. I had to stalk it online for a few weeks, but once it was back in stock and I didn’t hesitate to buy it. I love a good pink-red combination and the puffed sleeves had me the second I saw them. Add in my little ice cream purse from Kate Spade and the look is complete.
Book binge
I don’t know about you, but the second I heard The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han was going to be adapted for television, I just about lost my mind. It was one of my favourite YA series in high school (along with To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before) and I always hoped they’d make a movie or TV show based on the book. The series came out in mid June and I basically binge-watched it over a couple of days because I have absolutely no self control. Lucky for me, and every other fangirl, the series was renewed for a second and third season. If your favourite trope is a love triangle, I highly recommend.
TikTok, beauty, and other lifestyle things
I did the thing I said I would never do and joined TikTok earlier this year. And, as I predicted, it’s becoming a problem. I spend a lot of time on Instagram as it is and now TikTok is becoming my second most-used app. I use it mostly to post beauty roundups, unboxings, and mini vlogs, but I can definitely understand why it’s become so popular. I find that it’s a bit more freeing than Instagram. I can post as many things as I’d like without worrying about it messing with my aesthetic or spamming my followers with content, which is nice. I’ve been testing a lot of beauty products lately, so it’ll be nice to do some review blogs in addition to video content on TikTok and Instagram.
