Move over fruity fragrances! It’s time for veggies to have their moment.
If you asked me what my favourite fragrances have in common, I’d say that they’re all fruity-floral scents. Nina by Nina Ricci, Aqua Allegoria Forte Rosa Rossa by Guerlain, Marc Jacobs’s iconic Daisy Eau So Fresh, and Nest’s Rose Lychee Eau de Parfum are just a few of my favourite fragrances, and they all have notes that combine the sweet and fresh scents of fruits and florals. But lately, I’ve been drawn toward more green fragrances, especially when it comes to candles. Enter vegetables fragrances, and the fresh, earthy notes I’m currently obsessed with.
The garden fresh notes
In 2023, the Tomato Girl Summer aesthetic became the one of the biggest fashion and beauty trends to take over our Pinterest boards and the reason I fell in love with vegetable fragrances. That same year, Loewe and Malin + Goetz launched tomato-scented candles, which became instant favourites for me, and I’ve been slowly adding more to my collection ever since. Most of the candles I’ve been drawn to have a similar scent profile, often combining notes of basil, mint, sage, and, of course, tomato leaves. Together they create a very fresh, warm, and grounding scent that is perfect for a home fragrance.
