The outfits I had on repeat this fall.
My love knows no bounds when it comes to all things fall. From the weather to the fashion, it’s always been my favourite time of the year. And after a long, hot summer, I was more than happy to pack up my maxi dresses and linen pants and pull out all my turtleneck sweaters, leather pants, and trench coats. Here are a few of my favourite fall outfits!
Autumnal hues
One of the reasons I love fall so much is the colours! Burnt orange, deep burgundy and rich greens are just a few colours I lean toward during the fall months and this Hilary Macmillan peplum top made a great addition to my closet. Everyone knows florals work for spring, but I loved this moody floral print for fall.
Chocolate brown era
Chocolate brown is having a major moment, and it all started last year when publications like Vogue and Elle declared it would be the colour of the season. Since then, we’ve seen the rise of beauty trends like 90’s brown lipstick, latte makeup, and espresso nails, and fashion has followed a similar trajectory. I’ve added quite a few chocolate brown pieces to my wardrobe in the last year, but I’ve also had fun playing with different colour combos. A monochrome outfit always looks good, but I really like pairing brown with brighter shades of orange and pink, too.
Vested interest
Is there anything more classic than a sweater vest for fall? Maybe a blazer, but a sweater vest is another great option — especially when the weather is transitioning from summer to autumn. I got this one from Ardene a couple years ago, and it’s still one of my go-tos. I love the oversized fit of this one, because it layers so well over my shirtdress. And of course, I had to style them with my cowboy boots — an unexpected purchase I made this year that I’m really happy about.
Leather love
Nothing says fall like a black leather jacket, but I love how many options there are now. With the rise of faux leather materials that come in a range of colours, I’ve been filling my closet with pants, skirts, and jackets with all things leather. My pink Hilary MacMillan trench coat is one of my favourite jackets to wear during the fall, and it’s actually great during rainy days because it’s water resistant. I will definitely invest in another colour in the near future.
Power(Puffer) girl
I’ve added a few puffer vests to my closet this year and I can’t really explain why I needed them all. I think it’s partly because I wanted some more transitional outerwear pieces, but it’s mostly because I can’t say no to anything that comes in pink. And this ombre pink vest was definitely one I couldn’t walk away from. It’s another find from Hilary MacMillan — can you tell she’s one of my favourite designers?
