My OTT birthday wish list

Candles and earrings and face masks, oh my!

I know a lot of people use the New Years holiday to reflect and make resolutions for the year, but I find that my birthday is when I’m most thoughtful about the year ahead. I make a list of all the amazing things that happened to me since my last birthday—25 was definitely a big one for me—and then I dream up a whole new list of things I would love to over the next year. I’m ready for 26—I think…

I guess I would call it dream boarding but not exactly. It’s not as crafty but it’s just intentional and it’s helped ground me in a way that I didn’t realize I really needed. Getting older sucks but making lists of recent memories and future dreams makes it all bearable. Oh, and the there’s the actual birthday list, filled with a few things that I definitely don’t need but really, really want. Here it is:

So I did a thing…

Light my flame

A glass of wine, a good book, and a couple candles are a few of my favourite things when I’m having a night in. And, after the last few weeks of relentless winter weather, I’ve been burning candles more often than not. So, I wanted to change up my scents a bit and try something new. I’ve known about Boy Smells for a while but never got the chance to pick up one of their candles. This one, called the Cinderose Candle, sounds absolutely divine with notes of rose, orange blossom, and jasmine and I want it.

New Booties

I think my favourite type of footwear are boots. And, even more specifically, I love a cute ankle boot with a solid, chunky heel. They’re so practical, simple, and chic. The Solange Block Heel Boot from Long Tall Sally caught my eye and I can’t stop thinking about them.

Another day, another sleep mask

I love a good sleep mask and I’ve always wanted one from Slip. I’m also dying for a set of silk pillowcases from the brand but this Pisces Sleep Mask quickly superseded the pillowcases in order of necessities. Not only do I love the shade of navy blue but I love the little constellation graphic on the front. So cute! And of course, they have all the zodiac signs available.

OTT Extra

After seeing my growing collection of handbags, you’ll notice a few trends. One, I love a clutch. Two, I love bags with structure and interesting shapes. And three, I love a bag that’s just a little over the top. It’s the best way to add a little drama to my outfit, especially if I’m in an otherwise basic look. An OTT handbag can elevate any #OOTD. This Soewia Purse from Aldo is adorable and describes me as a person.

Tata Harper

I’ve been listening to podcasts a lot lately and I’m kind of obsessed with beauty podcasts—go figure! I listened to one recently, called Breaking Beauty Podcast, about Tata Harper and her green beauty skincare line. I’m familiar with the brand but never tried it. But, by the end of the podcast I was scrolling through Sephora and adding a bunch of prods to my shopping cart. The Tata Harper Purifying Mask is at the top of my beauty list!

Queen of Spades

My love for any and everything Kate Spade knows no bounds. From handbags and jewellery to stationery and home decor, the colourful, print-friendly Kate Spade aesthetic is one that resonates with my soul. I love the mixture of bright, fun prints and simple, classic pieces. I recently bought a pair of pink champagne bottle earrings—they’re adorable—but I would also love a pair of earrings I can wear everyday. These simple gold Spade Mini Studs are ones I can see myself wearing all day, everyday.
