The five things on my birthday wish list

Happy Birthday to me!

March has always been my favourite month of the year. It not only signals the beginning of spring, but it also happens to be the month of my birthday! There are so many people in my life who also have birthdays in March, so it’s really a whole month of celebrations. And if I’m being honest, I use it as an excuse to treat myself all month long. This year will be my second quarantine birthday, so I’ve already experienced the disappointment of not being able to celebrate the way I want to. But, that just means I get to do all my requisite birthday shopping online. Here are a few things I’ve been eyeing lately.

A new loungewear set

My love for sweatshirts and sweatpants is at an all time high now that I’m home all the time. Before quarantine, I would’ve lounged around my house wearing my Pjs, or a pair of bike shorts and an old T-shirt. Now, it feels like I’m dressing up when I change into a pair of joggers and a sweatshirt. There’s a set from this Toronto-based brand called Peace Collective that I’m dying to buy. I love the bright yellow colour, and the cropped length of the sweatshirt. Plus, it has “Home is Toronto” written on the chest, which is a nice way to rep my city.

Anything Fenty Beauty

I’ve never met a Fenty product I didn’t like, and there are still a few on my list I want to try. Of course, there are a few favourites that I will repurchase until the end of time, like the Lip Balm and Scrub Set and the Instant Retouch Concealer, but I’m dying to get my hands on the Gloss Bomb Lip Cream in literally any colour, the Cream Blush in Fuego Flush, and the entire Fenty Skin collection.

More ear jewels

I have a ridiculous collection of earrings, thanks to Jenny Bird, Mejuri, and a few other designers. But I recently discovered this jewellery brand and I haven’t been able to think about anything else. Instead of your traditional stud or hoop earring, Mam has a collection of earrings and they’re actual works of art. I love that the ear cuffs! It means that I can mix and match these pieces with the earrings I already have, without needing extra piercings. The circular ear cuff and the ear cuff with pearls were just a few that caught my eye.

All the bath products

My favourite way to chill out these days is to take a long, hot bath. I even invested in a bath tray to hold my iPad, so I can really enjoy my time in the tub. And over the last few months, I’ve gone through an array of bath bombs, bath salts, body scrubs, and candles (because I’m fancy). Now I can’t imagine taking a bath without them. If I had to choose a few brands, I’d say anything from Bathorium and their sister brand Bathologist. I love a good LUSH bath bomb, and Frank Body has a huge collection of coffee body scrubs.

Personalized business cards

I know I won’t need to use them right away, but I just really love the idea of having my own business cards. I have a small obsession with office supplies (pens, notebooks, etc.), and I always planned to have my own business cards once I got settled into a job. Now I’m well into my second year as a freelance writer and I think I should make it official. These ones from Rifle Paper Co. are so cute and you can customize the little person to look exactly like you. Plus, I just love the floral illustrations that Rifle Paper Co. is known for.
