It’s my birthday month feat. Cake Beauty

Cake. Cake. Cake.

I’m starting out my birthday month on a sweet note by reviewing one of my favourite beauty brands, Cake Beauty. I discovered them when I was in university and I have been in love with them ever since. There are so many things to love about this brand. Cake Beauty is Canadian, vegan, and cruelty free. I fell in love with the adorable packaging and iconic birthday cake scent almost instantly but the products are truly amazing.

These are my favourites:

Unboxing

I’ve been purchasing Cake Beauty products for a few years now but I’ve never actually bought them from the Cake Beauty website. I bought the majority of my Cake Beauty products from Murale but, I’ve also found them at Winners and Homesense, and occasionally even Costco.

This was my first time buying products from the website and I really liked the personalized Cake Beauty box. I also appreciated that some of the products came in their own plastic bags to prevent spillage. I replenished my favourite product—the Sugared Cream Body Milk Scrub—but I also got a few new products to try out as well.

I’m crazy for coconuts

I love getting travel-friendly beauty products because they’re perfect for my on-the-go lifestyle. Even though I don’t travel much, I’m constantly going from one end of the city to another and it’s nice to have a couple beauty essentials tucked away for emergencies. This Delectable Coconut Cream Trio was perfect to travel with.

The trio lives in my gym bag for those days I have to go straight to work. The Supremely Rich Body Wash is so refreshing and I loved the Radiance Boosting Hair and Body Mist. Not only did it add some much needed hydration to my skin but, it also has aloe vera in it to help calm and soothe the skin. It’s perfect for my skin as a post-workout pick-me-up. I also really like that I can use it in my hair to add some subtle fragrance to it. The Triple Moisture Body Lotion is a godsend with a mixture of shea butter, coconut oil, and aloe vera. My skin feels so soft and hydrated afterward.

The hand(y) cream

If you looked inside my purse on any given day, you are sure to find these three beauty essentials: lip gloss or lip balm (depending on my mood), a rollerball or perfume mini (for a little fragrance boost) and hand cream (because I wash my hands so many times in a day and I cannot live with dry hands. I will not leave the house without these three things. So, I was really excited to try the Cake Beauty Candied Oat Milk Cream.

The scent is probably the lightest out of all the Cake Beauty products I’ve tried but still very fragrant. It’s also the most iconic scent of all the Cake Beauty products. The formula and texture is also very similar to the Coconut & Cream Body Lotion, but a bit lighter. I use a bit more of this product because it is a bit lighter but still absorbs quickly and hydrates my skin.

Body by Cake Beauty

The Cake Beauty Indulgent Body Milk Cream is aptly named. The texture of this lotion is so light, I would describe it as a jar of whipped marshmallows. Delicious. The Body Milk Cream was a dream to apply and the iconic Candied Oat Milk scent is quickly becoming one of my favourites. I love how smooth my skin feels after using this. It doesn’t feel greasy or heavy. Instead, my skin feels soft, hydrated, and ready for anything. I will probably end up replenishing this sooner than later because my skin loves it.

Scrub a dub dub

The pièce de résistance of the entire Cake Beauty collection is the Totally To Die For Sugared Cream Body Milk Scrub. It’s the first  Cake Beauty product I’ve ever tried and my absolutely favourite. The white sugar particles have this amazing grainy texture. Instead of being creamy or fine, this scrub is a serious exfoliator.

I use it on my entire body about once a week—sometimes more if I’m feeling particularly indulgent—and I leave the shower feeling so fresh and soft. It’s addictive for suer but in the best of ways. So addictive, in fact, that I have to hide it from my family. I can usually make a jar last a few months, but my sisters recently discovered the magic of this body scrub so I’ll probably need to replace it sooner than later. And, maybe find a better hiding place.

Conclusion: the body scrub is everything

While I loved all the products I tried, there a few I will definitely repurchase. The Body Milk is the perfect head-to-toe moisturizer and I can see myself using this year round. I also loved the Coconut Cream Trio. It’s just a great travel set and I love the scent. But, the absolute necessity for me is the Sugared Cream Body Milk Scrub. It’s quite possibly the best body scrub I’ve ever tried and, my beauty routine would be empty without it.
