Give ’em lip!
Summer is officially here in Toronto and that means the season of beauty pop ups has arrived—or any pop up, really. Last year, I went to quite a few in Toronto and I’m hoping there will be a few more before summer really sets in. Beauty pop ups are the best for several reasons. Not only do you get to test out a bunch of products like blush and eyeliner but, the pop ups have been designed to suit all your Instagram needs. Last week, I went to Revlon’s Feeling Lippie pop up in downtown Toronto with a couple friends and was ready to shop till I dropped. The entire decor was so chic and it looked like a French-inspired coffee shop! The one they had last year was really cute but, this year’s was really good.
Lip gloss poppin’
Revlon launched a new line of lip gloss called the Ultra HD Vinyl Lip Polish. Like many beauty lovers, Revlon was the first lipstick brand I tried when I started getting into makeup. As a fan of their Super Lustrous Lipstick and a super fan of lip gloss, I was very excited to try out the new collection. The launch included 10 new bold, glossy lipsticks with a few surprises too.
Pop up features
Along with the new collection of lip products, the Revlon pop up also had a couple activities. Along one wall, attendees could get their makeup applied at a station by a makeup artist and try out the newest Revlon products. In the back there was a little cafe where you could help yourself to cookies and cold drinks like iced coffee and pink lemonade. In that same space there was a long red couch with a wall of framed pictures where you could take your picture. I totally took advantage of that.
My aura reading
One of the last activities you could do at the Revlon pop up was get our aura read by an expert. We got our picture taken with an overlay of our aura printed on a polaroid. Apparently, three colours make up my aura: yellow, orange, and red. I am a happy, sunny person (yellow), a great communicator and empath (orange) and a bold, expressive girl boss (red). I was kind of surprised but also pleased with the reading. I can see all of those elements in my own personality so it was interesting to hear someone else tell me the same thing. I was very skeptical about this experience but my friends and I decided to just try it. I’m glad I did because it ended up being really cool.
Lip gloss poppin’
After visiting the Revlon pop up, I was very excited to try out the Ultra HD Vinyl Lip Polish. I picked this beautiful berry shade called So Shady and I’m really liking it. I love deep, berry shades because they suit my skin beautifully. I wore it a couple times this week and there are a few things I like about the formula. First, it’s not sticky. I love the clear lip gloss from Glossier and even Fenty Beauty’s Gloss Bomb and I was hoping the Revlon lip gloss would be similar in its texture and wearability. And, after using it a few times, I can say the texture is great. I will say that it isn’t doesn’t apply as seamlessly as my other lippies, especially my Glossier lip gloss but, it’s not terrible.
The pigment is the second thing I like about this Revlon product. It doesn’t take a lot of product to get the colour I want and I can always build on top to achieve a more intense colour. Right now, I’m pretty simple when it comes to my makeup. I hardly wear any during the summer but I will always wear lip gloss at the very least. I loved using this product because I can get a stained lip with a glossy finish. It looks very natural and if I want more drama, I can layer on top.

The verdict
Overall, it’s a good product. Like I said, the only thing I didn’t like is that it doesn’t have as much slip as other lip gloss products I’ve tried but I still like it. I think it might be a bit thicker but it’s not uncomfortable. Otherwise, I love this lippie. I can definitely see myself using it this summer.
